Public Policy in Practice with Rob Nabors

Please join Fels for a conversation with Rob Nabors, Director of Policy and Government Affairs at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Rob leads the team which manages the foundation's work with government relations, policy, advocacy, and communications in the U.S. and Canada. His team, based in Washington, DC and Seattle, WA, develops and implements strategies that help mobilize the resources, political commitment, and public commitment necessary to achieving the foundation’s programmatic goals.

Rob joined the foundation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs where he was chief of staff. Prior to that role, he served in the Obama Administration as the White House’s Director of Legislative Affairs and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy. Rob spent several years in various positions in the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, most recently as deputy director. He also served on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, including as majority staff director.

Rob holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

The Public Policy in Practice Series, led by Fels Senior Fellow Elizabeth Vale, is designed to provide students with a variety of perspectives and compelling personal narratives that will help them not only form their opinions on important issues, but will also help shape their careers. This series is offered in conjunction with the Fels graduate Public Management course required of all Fels MPA and Executive MPA students. Fels is proud to offer these important conversations to the entire Penn community and members of the public.
