Lorenzo Rocco attained a PhD in economics at the Toulouse School of Economics (France) in 2005 before moving back in Italy where he currently is Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Padova. He is an empirical economist and his fields of research include the socioeconomic determinants of health, the influence of health on the labor market outcomes and several aspects of the economics of education. His research has been published by The Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Growth, Journal of Public Economics, Health Economics, Economics and Human Biology, and European Journal of Health Economics, among others. He has also contributed to several reports commissioned by the World Bank, World Health Organization, OECD and The European Commission. Since 2016 he has served as coordinator of the Global Network on Social Capital and Health, established in 2006.
