PWBM Briefing: Economic Analysis of Infrastructure Proposals

  • This briefing will be held as a webinar. (map)

As the economy reels from the coronavirus pandemic, policymakers on both sides of the aisle have suggested boosting federal infrastructure spending as an economic stimulus. Even in normal times, advocates pointed to our nation’s crumbling roads and bridges, arguing that large public investments could help the economy. PWBM senior economist Jon Huntley will walk participants through PWBM’s analyses of these various infrastructure proposals. Participants will learn about how public investments translate into public capital and productivity, how federal spending stimulates the economy during recessions, and how financing matters for infrastructure spending.

This briefing is an elective lesson in PWBM’s Certificate for Policy Professionals, which is geared toward congressional staffers and other public policy professionals who work in the Washington, DC area. The program will train students in the economics of public policies and the process of how policies are made. After completing the program, certificate earners will be better prepared to understand and articulate the economic trade-offs of legislation. Please visit our certificate page to learn more and apply.

Instructor: Jon Huntley, PWBM Senior Economist
