Germán Sánchez Sánchez
Germán Sánchez Sánchez is an economist whose research interests lie at the intersection of macroeconomics, finance, and real estate. His prior research focused on developing quantitative models of housing and mortgage markets, with particular emphasis on understanding the effects of policy interventions on these markets, as well as their implications for financial stability and welfare. His work also incorporates advanced computational techniques to solve complex economic models, and his research has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics. Before joining the Penn Wharton Budget Model, Germán served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Villanova University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and earned both his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from ITAM in Mexico City. At PWBM, Germán works on projects focused on immigration and demographics, with particular emphasis on the economic and fiscal effects of STEM immigration. His work analyzes specific policy proposals, including exempting STEM immigrants from green card caps and reforming the H-1B visa lottery to prioritize higher-wage applicants.
